URGENT VOTER GUIDE SUPPORT NEEDED!
For the first time, we must bear the cost of printing our local Voter Guides. Historically, the Florida Weekly has printed our Voter Guides as an insert to their weekly publication, and distributed to their 20,000 readers, at no cost to the League.
While we will continue to partner with the Florida Weekly, they are no longer able to fully underwrite the printing cost. They have given us a generous subsidy, but we must now bear a cost of $4,800 for the Guide for the upcoming local primary and another $4,800 for the Guide for the November elections.
One of the most important services the League provides is printing and distributing the Voter Guide – it may be the only nonpartisan information a voter receives about candidates and issues to help them make their decisions at the ballot box!
This $9,600 expense was not in our budget for this election year. Please help us provide this vital service.
You may make your donation online or by check to LWVCC, PO Box 9883, Naples, FL 34101. Please include Voter Guide on the memo line of your check. Your gift to the Education Fund, a 501(c)(3) organization, is tax-deductible (Tax ID Number: 59-2659558) to the extent allowable by law. Thank you for your generous support!
| | PREFER A PRINTED VOTER GUIDE?
The LWVCC 2024 Primary Voter Guide is now available in two forms: a webpage and a downloadable document which you can print and annotate.
| LEAGUE POSITION ON AMENDMENT 1
The LWV in Florida is opposed to the passage of Amendment 1, which would make school board elections in Florida partisan. Please read LWVCC's Letter to the Editor, which was published in the July 17 edition of the Naples Daily News.
| RETURNING CITIZENS POSTCARD PARTIES
July 25 & August 1 @ 1:00-3:00
The League of Women Voters of Florida is committed to helping returning Citizens regain the right to vote after completing their sentence. The State is a founding partner in getting Amendment 4 on the ballot in 2018, which overwhelmingly passed with 64% of the Florida Electorate. The League helped reduce fees and administrative costs returning citizens were required to pay. Cecile Scoon, LWVFL Co-President, established a state program to identify and educate returning citizens of their rights and developed training for attorneys to work pro bono for those in need.
Now the League still needs your help! We have many more postcard to write and are also writing postcards for our local Get Out The Vote initiative. We have scheduled postcard writing parties on Thursdays: July 25 and August 1.
For those of us that have been part of this, it is truly a rewarding experience. Please come join us!
