Environmental Affairs Committee Meeting
November 14 @ 10:00-12:00
Collier Community Foundation / Zoom
We will hear from Dr. Michael Savarese, a Distinguished Professor of Coastal Geology, Climate Resilience, & Preparation within the Department of Marine and Earth Sciences within Florida Gulf Coast University’s Water School. He was one of the principal scientists for the development of the ACUNE software which models sea level rise and the effects of storms on the coast of Collier County and is a principal tool for adaptation planning. He will present lessons learned about coastal resiliency from the recent hurricanes and what types of damage they have caused to the shoreline. He will also discuss the implications of the impacts for the types of modifications we should make for adaptation in the future. We invite everyone to join us for Mike’s presentation. |
