Our Mission
Mission Statement: The Social Policy Committee works on issues that affect the attainment of basic human needs for all members of our community in Collier County. These issues include safe and sustainable housing; access to quality health care including general, mental, and reproductive health services; adequate food availability and a safer environment, particularly with the reduction of gun violence.
Program Plan 2025-2026
Objective 1: Educate and advocate for actions that support the development and preservation of attainable housing for all income levels by supporting recommendations of the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee and the Collier County Community Land Trust that align with LWV policies.

Meet with at least one member of the Collier County Board of Commissioners annually
- Write and submit one LTE related to housing prior to February 2026

Regularly attend government and housing nonprofit meetings with relevant agendas
Objective 2: Promote and educate the community on safe gun storage.
- Attend at least one tabling community event with LWVCC to distribute approved gun safety literature and free gun locks between August 2025-June 2026
- Conduct one presentation to the LWVCC on gun violence prevention using a LWVFL Gun Violence Prevention Action Team PowerPoint between November 2025-April 2026.
- Advocate for gun violence prevention measures at the state and local level.
