About Our Leaders

Ellen Hannan

Ellen was raised with a deep respect for intellectual values and a social awareness which compels one to action. She believes that giving back to one’s community – wherever that may be, and in any way one can – is important.

Ellen has lived and voted in Collier County since 2014, joining the League in early 2022. Ellen is constantly energized and educated by the community of activists that are the members of the League here in Collier County. To learn more about our local league, she participated in the League Leadership Program. She is a member of the Development Outreach Team, Tech Team and is Board Treasurer.

When asked what aspects of the League’ s work she felt are most essential, Ellen replied, “The League plays a critical role as one of the very few nonpartisan sources of information on how our local government works and - during election years - provides unbiased facts about candidates for offices that impact the everyday lives of Collier citizens.  The process of registering to vote, determining eligibility, and understanding the primary system here in Florida are essential in informing Collier County voters”.

As a retired Wall St analyst, Ellen is happy to bring her financial knowledge and skills to the League’s leadership. She has served her community as a school trustee and served on several community boards in leadership roles, including as the Treasurer of a non-profit board focused on patient advocacy and research for a rare disease.
