SOCIAL POLICY COMMITTEE VISIT TO NAMI

In observance of Mental Health Month, the Social Policy Committee toured the new NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) of Collier County facility and received a briefing on the many programs offered by NAMI. The available services are impressive and we left with a better understanding of this valuable community resource.

AFTERNOON & EVENING EVENTS FOR OUR BUSY MEMBERS!

Our growing ranks include a number of people who work or volunteer during the day. They often can't attend our luncheons or morning committee meetings. The Membership Team is putting together a group of members to help us organize events in the late afternoon and evening. These events could focus on a speaker or topic—or be purely social and networking! If you’re interested, please contact Membership Team Chair Beth VanDamme.

Florida Weekly logo

The League has formed a partnership with Florida Weekly, a free local newspaper published once a week, to further the education of voters as part of the Get-Out-the-Vote campaign. The paper will print regular non-partisan articles, using the LWV logo, about upcoming elections, registration, voting options, and forums, culminating in a four-page Voter Guide in August for the Primary Election and again in late October for the General Election. Links to recent articles will be provided here in the LWVCC Update.
