Our Mission
Working within the broader scope of the Voter Services Committee, our goal is to increase minority participation in the electoral process through educational outreach.
Our Goal
For the midterm election this November 2022, our goal is to encourage voter turnout in minority communities throughout Collier County. We will develop and augment existing efforts of aligned organizations using the "Get Out the Vote Network".
Please contact Susan to join our team today. Help us get out the vote!
Initiatives
Adopt-a-Precinct
We are putting together a team to adopt-a-precinct or two in minority areas of the county as identified by the Supervisor of Elections (SOE). We require 6-9 people per precinct who will be able to go to training at the SOE’s office and then arrive by 6 am on Election Day and stay until 9 pm or later until the procedures for closing the polls are completed (usually by 8 pm). For more information, go to https://CollierVotes.gov and click on Adopt-a-Precinct. The monies typically paid to workers then are donated to the League of Women Voters.
Food Banks
Voter education is offered in Creole, English, and Spanish. Information will be distributed at Food Banks throughout the county next spring and summer in preparation for the November 2022 election.
Media outreach
The social media and traditional media outreach, that was so successful for the 2020 General Election, will continue. We are looking for people to help with this work. Media includes Google Ads, print ads, newspaper articles, radio and television Interviews, Twitter storms, Facebook and Instagram postings. We do this in Creole, English, and Spanish.
Phone and Text Banks
We will work with local and national organizations to communicate voter education via phone and text banks. These initiatives are scheduled as the election becomes closer. Training is provided. If you have an interest, this is a great way to get involved.
Outreach to churches
We will put together a traveling voter education program to be delivered at churches in our minority districts. Topics include voter registration, Vote By Mail, and voter suppression awareness.
